I was never a Larry Munson fan. (Munson was the voice of the Georgia Bulldogs for over 40 years) After cutting my teeth on Verne Lundquist, Frank Glieber and Brad Sham, I was appalled at all his "MY GOD... OH MY GOD... WE'RE GOING TO WIN" homerism. But I can absolutely see why he was considered a legend amongst Georgia Bulldogs fans. He was the signature voice of their passion. And his calls were legendary, if not professionally impartial.

What I Think on Pre-Thanksgiving Weekend
Weekend thoughts-- Why college football is the greatest sport on earth. This was supposed to be a very lackluster weekend of college football games, yet it caused more chaos than any other weekend of the season. Iowa St. knocks off Oklahoma St., Baylor and RG 3 shock Oklahoma, and USC plucks the Ducks of Oregon. WOW! A BCS earthquake.
Now the rest of the country is seeing just how flippin' tough the SEC Western Division is. New BCS poll: 1. LSU 2. Alabama 3. Arkansas The winner of the West ought to be crowned the National Champion just for winning the division. The only thing that even compares is the Big 8 in 1971 when Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado finished 1-2-3 in the polls.
The Dallas Cowboys can absolutely drive you crazy. Special teams are horrendous. Can someone please make a tackle on a kickoff or punt return. And Rex Grossman looks like Johnny Unitas against their defense. A seemingly easy win turns into an overtime grind. Thank goodness that bum, Tony Romo, is so clutch on third down. That completion to Dez Bryant on 3rd and 15 for first down in overtime was Staubach-esque. And it looks even better after watching guys like Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow play the position.
Speaking of clutch... it doesn't get any bigger than Chapel Hill's Andrew Tucker's 93 yard touchdown run with less than a minute to play to give CH a 27-20 win over previously undefeated Waco La Vega in the Class 3-A Regional playoff Friday night. Thomas Sitton's Bulldogs have overcome so many injuries to get to the third round of the playoffs, it's hard to pick against them to win the 3-A state championship now that they're all healthy.
Thing I'm most grateful for on this weekend before Thanksgiving: none of the above involved Joe Paterno.
Chris Berman jamming with Kelly Clarkston in the front seat of a new car creeps me out.
